February 01, 2015

On 1 February 2015 in Bagno Vignoni (SI), the inauguration of a new art space, Art House, took place. Once Extraordinary Events, a Tuscan event organization agency, acted as the press office and took care of the advertising promotion of the event which kicked off with the exhibition “Me and Pliny, the greeting”.
Art House, created and directed by Mario Pissacroia, dedicated its space to the Roman gallery owner of Abruzzo origins Plinio De Martiis, who passed away in 2004. Photographer, gallery owner, creator and organizer of important cultural events, De Martiis founded the gallery “La Tartaruga” (The Turtle) in Rome in 1954, to which artists of the caliber of Rauschenberg, Warhol, Burri, Schifano gravitated.

The exhibition
The exhibition was held in the same house in Bagno Vignoni that hosted him during his years in Val d’Orcia. Here the works of the great artists that De Martiis loved and contributed to making stars were exhibited, but also of those who knew and respected De Martiis and who well represent the international and multidisciplinary vocation of the gallery which reserves rooms for design, fashion and dramatic art, experimenting with contaminations of sound art.

Artists present
Among the artists present: Vincenzo Agnetti, Franco Angeli, Enrico Baj, Alberto Burri, Ennio Calabria, Tommaso Cascella, Tano Festa, Franco Fontana, Sergio Lombardo, Robert Mapplethorpe, Sebastián Matta, Carlo Mattioli, Gastone Novelli, Achille Perilli, GerhardRichter, Mimmo Rotella, Mario Schifano, Ugo Sterpini.
