Six pairs of arms and hands touch and clasp each other, symbolizing fraternity, dialogue, peace, and love. The artwork, first presented at the Venice Biennale in 2019, after being hosted in Marina di Pietrasanta and Vieste, is now displayed in Martina Franca, Puglia. “Building Bridges” is the installation by Lorenzo Quinn, son of Hollywood actor Anthony Quinn, who created this artwork.
Artistic Vision & Cultural Impact
Men and women are made to build bridges, not walls—especially in the era we live in. That’s the meaning behind this embrace, meant to be both observed and walked through, representing six universal values of humanity, as the artist himself explained during the inauguration. In the heart of the Itria Valley, the giant hands serve as bridges of welcome for visitors and tourists from all over the world.
The monument-exhibition will remain in Piazza XX Settembre until August 31, before continuing its exhibition journey across Italy.
Once Extraordinary Events has served as project manager since the artwork’s debut, overseeing both the first edition and this current exhibition.
